All In One

The month of February came quickly. Don't forget that you can stay up to date with fashion, trends, and our lifestyle via our FB Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/shopmoddame! Squeezing this blog into my day within 30 minutes so bear with the grammar. Thanks.

What's going on with the online boutique: A HUGE DRESS SALE going on right now! We've gotta bring in more so out with the old, and in with the new!

Here's a little fun design we did here! Don't forget to also follow our instagram: moddame (fashion/onlineboutique) and lovenlisa (fashion/life).
Valentine's day! I hope you all spent it with someone special. It's funny, but i started with no valentine this year, and had none the other two years as well. I don't say it's unlucky, i think luck just works in different ways. Last night, the hours were closing in at work. My buddy asked if i wanted to grab dinner and of course i had no plans (still single, not ready to mingle, don't know what i want). So, we ended up going out to a place in Koreatown called Mandarin House. Must i note that he also got me some simple roses which was really sweet. I love roses btw. Never grew up with gentlemen who offered me things as such or gifts. I was the gentleman in my past relationships, but that's another blog LOL. Anyways, we had a delicious black bean noodle dish, along with some sweet and sour pork tempura. Who knew this would be so yummy! Try it next time.

The plan afterwards was to attend a Valentine party at Drais with my girl Jenny. She always pulls through for me, supports me, buys me dinner when i can't afford it, and understands that hard work, is hard work. You've gotta work! We realized, we were each others Valentine. I love this girl!

Other photos from the night: Jenny with her buddies JP and i forgot the other guy's name.

A picture with gorgeous Angela from Jetset promotions. Again im now promoting for Friction Ent. all Asian promoting groups. LMK if you ever want to come out and check out the asian scene in LA.

Here with my buddy Lee from Kiramas promotions. He's one of the hottest LA Asian promoters!

We were not drunk LOL, the flash was just so strong that every time we tried taking a photo, this is what we chinks look like >.< Anyways, here with my buddy Wes and Bryan. All promoters from Friction, Go?, and Jetset.

 Must watch movie:

What's been on my mind as i age daily. Wrinkles kicking in and yet to find a boyfriend, yet a man of interest who will stay interested in me. I may just be too strong for my own good, also consisting of a hard head, stubborn, and sometimes bratty personality. There's always going to be the good and the bad. I was gifted with the patience and understanding that there's always two sides to a person. You may only see one side, and the other takes time to not see, but feel. When i put in, i stay in. But as my sister always tells me, not everyone is like me. In this world of LA, hustlars, ballas, and shot callas, who do you become? Overall, a message i try to remind myself daily:

So the time is closer and i will officially be what my mom  calls it "a gangster." Yes, i am getting another tattoo. The first ones i got last month with my girls. Some stars and a moon and i must say that guy really sucked. I forgot the store name but when i remember, i'll make sure to let you all know. All i know was it was a Chinese older gentlemen. Reminded me of the tattoo artist in Ninja Assassin!

Anyways, guess what i'm getting:

I've been eyeballing tattoos lately. This ones adorable.
Last weeks Adventures:

Delicious places to try: Tin Tai Fung in Arcadia. Not a full on dumpling or dim sum spot but they have these amazing juicy soupy pork dumplings to die for.  Definitely a tourist spot so you will be waiting for a good hour to grub:

A photo shoot i did with someone i call mr.right. A man going somewhere with his life, very passionate, a gentleman, fashionisto, and a great catch, and someone i look up. Anyways, he was kind enough to come in for a couple of hours to do some simple Man Shots and modeled some of the men's new arrivals on the site! Don't forget to check them out: www.moddame.com!
Last weekend at Icon celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year. They give out these little red envelopes that are meant for luck. Lucky me i got one last night at Drais! Here's some photos from this night at icon:

What's up ahead this weekend: I promote all of these FYI  213.935.0755 for more info!
FRIDAY: Well, tonight, i have two birthdays to attend so i really don't know exactly what's going to happen. My buddy Sung is having his birthday at Feria, a Korean booking club ( Cons: the ones that they drag the chicks around to different tables. Pros: free drinks at every table just by giving these guys a couple minutes of your time). I honestly like these clubs, easy ice breakers, and of course some creepers. Usually, the Korean guys only like the Korean girls LOL and i'm not Korean #sadfact but i still enjoy the atmosphere, great music, and yummy side dishes of fruits. My other buddy James is having his birthday at Lure, which at the moment, just had a grand opening Asian night a couple of Friday's ago. It's an okay turn out with a lot of FOB's. I mean, no offense i love fobs but it's a different crowd than the one i'm used to at Icon (more Americanized Asian crowd). So, which one to attend? i really have no idea. I want to do both but they're across from each other in LA.

SATURDAY: Hopefully getting up at 8am to shop for new arrivals for the site, along with shooting for the site, picking up more fake eyelashes, and some mail from the USPS. It really sucks living in some apts in LA. The mail boxes usually don't fit packages so you end up having to wait to pick up during the weekend. I'm excited, as there's accessories for the site in this package! Anyways, it's Icon for the night. We're doing a Speed Dating event from 8:30-10pm which i'm participating in. I'm very excited because i've never done it before and have always wanted too. Of course i'm not expecting to meet anyone special (mr.right) but i am expecting to meet some nice guys and have a good time laughing with drinks and free food! So far, I have a couple of tables booked for a birthday. It's always great having people come to me to help out with their birthdays and hang outs at Icon. I do my best!

SUNDAY: Don't wake me up until 11am to meet up with my besties. A weekend with some of my favorite people coming up this Sunday with some brunch, nice tour of DTLA, and maybe some light shopping. Its been awhile. Here's a throw back Thursdays with one of my besties Arthur Trujillo. Follow his blog here: http://trujillofashion.tumblr.com

Also on Sunday, have another party going on at Supper Club in Hollywood. It Presidents Day weekend so why not! Except i work Monday morning (something i hope will change with my next job). It's going to be smooth sailin' for me on this night, but i wouldn't miss it. Our promoting groups are the top Asian promoters in LA and we always throw the best parties. No Joke! Again, lmk if you want to come out to book tables or guest list: 213.935.0755 LOVEN LISA.

I never tell anyone how to live their lives, unless they ask for the lecture. I must say though:
People, people, people, we will never get along, nor can we all please one another. The way i see it, just let us live. You don't like me, don't act like you do or keep me as your friend on FB. You like me, get to know me. I don't live my life to please anyone. I suggest you do the same. Don't be a person you don't like within others.

Last note to you. Get started on your dreams:

+Working Days+

Daily Outfits

Working Days: I don't work in a clothing store, or a place where you sit down the whole day. I'm running around looking for samples, trend researching, marketing and sales, etc. I need clothing that i can easily move in, comfy shoes, and even lazy caps for the days i don't want to do my hair. I pile on my watch, maybe some bangles, and usually a nice necklace to chic up my boyish looks.

Knit blazer from my site: www.moddame.com , F21 checkered shirt, denim, & necklace, reptile loafer from Target, Diesel watch, thrifted bangles

http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=hat&ProductID=2031557780&VariantID Comfy and perfect for any day and night wear, the Trucker Hat! F21 has them now for only $5.80! Definitely worth the purchase. These are not an find these days!

Here's the jacket i'm wearing. I also had some on my site: www.moddame.com but they're sold out now. I have it worn here, layered with a denim vest.

New arrivals will be up later tonight! Make sure to check back!

A new year, new goals to pursue, and unfinished ones to fulfill. Sip on some warm coffee at your favorite coffee shop, chow down at that yummy breakfast cafe, have lunches and dinners with your friends, and laugh. Jump in on the fun at a cabin getaway, take a hike down that trail you've been waiting for since summer, and feel the ocean breeze. There's no new year, without feeling like a new you.

Pictures of the ModDame 2013 Fashion Show will be up later this week. The show was on Dec 30th in Fresno, CA. I too, had to take some time to breath, before hoping back into work mode. What to expect this year: more video blogs on life, fashion styling tips, weekly fashion photos, and actual garments and accessories that i will be hand making or producing. A lot is at mind, now it's just time to sit down and make it happen.

CLUB EVENTS IN LA this WEEKEND: 213.935.0755 LOVEN LISA for glist & table service!

CHEAP & TRENDING: Tees, tanks, & must have boots!
Starting off this year, i decided to blog about what i was shopping for. It's crazy but, with a life on the run, i need the most comfortable clothing there is and at the same time, still be a fashionista. I've realized, i need more TEES/TANKS and BOOTS! Outerwear doesn't really go out of style and mini skirts are for sure, going to stay around for a while. You do know that animal prints are day and night wear right? Don't forget, grey is the new black, so stock up on them!
Pick up the Jacket and skirts at my site: www.moddame.com

My outfit for the day: Don't forget to follow the instagram: MODDAME
I'm a layering freak and have been for years and years. Never do my vintage scarfs go out of style. H&M cropped trench coat, H&M graphic tee, F21 striped cardigan & jeans, I forgot the maker of my boots.

How do you wear skirts during this season? Leggings! And most importantly, opaque leggings! They usually run about $5.99 and up and can be found almost everywhere like F21, H&M, Etc.

Just bought this and am in love with it. Simple tee in heather grey with pleather touches to give it the perfect edge. Great with jeans! From F21.

TEES: I don't carry many tees at my shop because you can get them at F21 or Love Culture for $10-$15. So heck, i'll supply whatever else. Some of my picks this week:

One of my favorites because it's simple writing, basic cut and easy to layer over. Text is the most popular thing on tees and tanks these days.
You know rock and roll will never go anywhere, so you can plan to keep this for a while.

As i said earlier in the week, the cross has been a big hit for about 2 years but this year is trending insanely. Great thing about it is that now, it's so easy to find and cheap. Just hope to not run into your twin.
Movie graphics always a fav.

Probably the most infamous flag sign of the world and won't go out of style so stock up.

The whole rococo trend which i love, due to the era's graphics and antique vintage collages. Helps add color to your plain jeans and jackets. I'm a vintage freak so it's great for me.

BOOTS: And boots, many of you must wonder what color, or what kind can be worn during the day and not look too dressed up? Well, my favorite are neutrals and fav is a camel color for day wear. And dont forget, shoe laces tone down any boot and give it a rugged look. Also, platforms make a huge difference in day and night wear boots. Take a look at some styles i picked out.

Lace, platforms, and in a gorgeous camel color. This boot will definitely achieve a casual look for your daily outfits.

Love these at this height or taller.

These are best for the chicks with skinny legs, due to their open top. Someone with drum stick legs like myself, would rather look shorter and stubby. Still, they're adorable.
These are the new trending boots, part cowboy inspired and you can find a lot without the fringe. I personally love them and am looking into getting quite a few. They're great for all seasons, so it's a good investment.

Probably one of my favorites. I just enjoy odd constructed and unique things such as this. This will be an expensive one to buy or find on the market. So, In creating this look, just pile high your knee and thigh high socks over your boots. Looks good and will keep you warm!

These are the common camel platform that i think is a good investment. They're affordable, trendy, and works great for daywear. Found these for $19.99 online somewhere.

Now put all this together and have a great day!
See you all on the next blog. Don't forget to follow our facebook: http://www.facebook.com/shopmoddame and also our website: www.moddame.com.

"THE BLOG"
"Inspirations for The ModDame 2012 Collection and The Making of the first outfit"
It was all so sudden, that i decided to do this year's show. I participated last year but really had no time this year. My collection last year:
So, i needed an idea fast and thought all day and night about it, at the same time stressing about my Halloween costumes since in needed 3. One in LA on the 31st and 2 for Vegas. Last year i already had the concept of making a White Warrior Elf costume, to satisfy my dreams of actually meeting some sexy Elven from Lord of the Rings..LOL. And since the beginning of this year, i've been having a fetish for military men. My luck of course was great in meeting quite a few of these gorgeous men in uniform. So, while looking for costumes i relied on these two thoughts: a Elven and a military uniform. Here i was for Halloween this year:

I honestly had a weird dream of war, elves and men back in civil war times, and as i awoke, i started to stare at my old vintage suit case and had the thought: where have the years gone? From battling in the fields, coming back to live a civil life, and having to work in the city. That became my theme: "Where the Years Have Gone" --> the years from Elven days, to war, and to city life. The only way to make it is to keep moving forward. And yes, I decided to make a collection of Elven. Sketching out the concept:
A couple of days before the shoot (i know i procrastinate a lot) but i had to make my Halloween costume too, as you saw in the previous blog. I decided the use of shag instead of fur, so it can be worn everywhere, even where snow doesn't fall. Military, double breasted designs along with tail coats and anything from that era, sexy, edgy, and vintage concepts will all be in the collection.

I design a lot by deconstruction. I really didn't need this shirt, but i loved the knitted fabrication which you cannot buy at the fabric store. Most quality knits are machine knitted and as a small fashion designer like me, it's impossible to afford. So i picked this one at the thrift store.

The fabrications were shag fabrics, jacquard fabrics for structure and relation to the time era I'm aiming for, as well as chiffon, and other knits. I feel in love with these buttons which became the color theme for the collection. This year i went with soft mute hues of pinks, mints, tan, ivory, and the usually greys and browns and burgundy. My collection will always consist of vintage and edge.

I know, 4 hours past and i'm still working on the back of the shirt. Using chiffon on the top gives a sexy look to heavy sweaters, plus its a trend fabric these days. I designed an inverted pleat at center back, along with two tails to create a tail coat concept). Sewing with chiffon is a pain!

The final piece, though it changed from my sketch. I ended up cutting too much off the sweater so it was a little smaller than i'd have hoped.

Thanks to Mainza my MUA and model Brandie, they drove from Fresno that day to shoot the collection.

The Shoot
The image i had of this collection was that of the working world, coming from war in the early years and living a city life, as you will see in the full collection. In order to capture a gloomy mixture and a city, some what enchanted place, i thought of  the LACMA. LACMA stands for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. If you're in LA and love art, hit up their site to find out what's being featured: www.lacma.org
Anywas, in front of the LACMA, there's these unique light pole structures that create a "heavenly" and "enchanted" atmosphere. I always feel like i'm in another time when im here, so i decided to shoot the teaser piece at this location. The concept was to have her look like she's traveling through time. A warrior through war, and now adapting to city life. The collection "Where The Years Have Gone" is kind of a metaphor as to how quickly the years pass. We don't ever notice because we're always so busy. Before you know it, the years have gone and all you can do is look back and reminisce. Here are my amateur shots of the teaser piece.

 Big Thank You to:
